Benjamin F. Thurston listed on 26 May 1862 as Lieutenant 1st Class with the 10th Rhode Island Infantry Regiment Company S(Staff) he was mustered out on 01 Sept 1862. 
 
Benjamin was born on 07 November 1829 in Hopkinton, Rhode Island.
 
Father: Benjamin F. Thurston b.1804 - d.?
Mother: Francis (Abby) Thurston b. 1810 - d.?
 
His father was a farmer in Hopkinton, RI. Benjamin (father) and Francis (mother) were buried on the farm dates not recorded.
 
Brothers: George E.(Edward) b. 11 April 1831
          John D.-b. 1841 - d. 23 Febuary 1909
 
Sisters: Harriet E. -b. 1834.
         Fanny R. -b. 1838 -d. 11 December 1920
 
He married Cornelia Rathbone on 09 May 1853 together they had four known children:
 
1. Ellen DeF.(Deforest)-b. 09 October 1857 -d. 03 May 1939 she was married on 08 May 1886 to John R.(Russell) Gladding-b. 1858 -d. 07 March 1931.
 
2. Maurice D. (son) -b. 02 August 1859 -d. 13 October 1860 age 14 months.
 
3. Harriet D.(Deshon)-b. 20 January 1862 -d. 30 January 1903 she was married on 07 October 1891 to Jesse H.(Houghton) Metcalf -b.1860 -d. 09 October 1942.
 
4. Benjamin F. -b. 29 December 1870 -d. 21 August 1906.
 
All children are buried along with Benjamin & Cornelia in Swan Point Cemetery in Provience, Rhode Island.
