James Hervey Armington was born Rhode Island in 1827 was married to Mary Temple Mason in 1850 when he was employed as an engineer with the Gas Company. They had no children.
 
James enlisted as private on 26 May 1862 in the 10th Regiment and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and Quartermaster on the same day. He resigned as of 19 July 1862
 
James' wife Mary T. died on 16 Jan 1874 at the age of 44 yrs she is buried in Swan Point Cemetery.
 
James married again between 1875 and 1877 to his second wife Mary Augusta Butts and had one child, a daughter named Elizabeth born in 1878. Mary A. Died on 03 Sept 1909 at the age of 63 yrs. She is also buried at Swan Point Cemetery.
 
James was employed as Superintendent of the Gas Company from the time of his discharge thru 1890.
James Died on 14 Oct 1906 at the age of 79 yrs. He is buried with both wives in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence,RI
